Tempeh Saurbraten
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces tempeh
- 2 tablespoons arrowroot
- Vegetable cooking spray
Marinade:
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 cup water
- 2 whole allspice
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Vegan Worcestershire Sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the tempeh into thin slices. For the marinade, mix all the
ingredients in a bowl and soak the tempeh for about 3 hours. Remove the tempeh and save the marinade
for sauce. Spray a skillet with the cooking spray and brown the tempeh. Put the tempeh in a casserole
dish. In a small saucepan, cook the marinade until thickened, adding in the arrowroot. Pour over the
tempeh and bake for 20 minutes. This is excellent with brown rice.
